The Oklahoma History Center is conveniently located on the northeast corner of N.E. 23rd & Lincoln Boulevard, across the street from the Governor's Mansion. The Oklahoma History Center now has a c

harging station for electric vehicles. There are two CHadeMO and CCS (Type 1) connectors with an electrical output of up to 50 kW. You will find the charging station just north of the main parking lot.

On Friday, June 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., kick off your summer with a one-of-a-kind night at the Oklahoma History Center that blends weird flavors, creative expression, and Route 66!

At this program, guests aged 21 and over can sample three rounds of distinct cocktail/mocktail creations, featuring a distinctly strange Pops soda flavor. Each round invites guests to experience the adventurous spirit of roadside America in a whole new way.

Non-alcoholic options, water, and light bites are also included with admission. Between tastings, guests are invited to create a collage using historic photographs, vintage-inspired materials, and maps to design their own Route 66 postcard.

Happy 20th birthday to Pixar movie “Cars”! 🎉
Released nation-wide on June 9, 2006, the animated film “Cars” was many kids’ first introduction to Route 66 lore and nostalgia. The movie became so closely connected with Route 66 imagery, we decided to give some of the film’s stars a role in our “The Longest Stretch: Route 66 in Oklahoma” exhibit interactive!

OkieTales Storytime is back! 📚
Join on select Saturdays in June and July from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for OkieTales. Families will hear a live book reading before getting to experience history hands-on with activities, games, and crafts.
OkieTales will be held every Saturday from June 13th to July 25th (except July 4th) and is included with museum admission.

On May 31, 1921 mobs of white armed citizens attacked the prosperous African American Greenwood District of Tulsa. During the course of eighteen terrible hours on May 31 and June 1, more than one thousand homes and businesses were destroyed, while credible estimates of deaths range from fifty to three hundred.

Believed to be the single worst incident of racial violence in American history, the bloody 1921 outbreak in Tulsa continues to demand study, respect, and reflection.
