The nominees for this year's class of the National Rodeo Hall of Fame are in! We are profiling their great careers over the next few days.

Today, we tell the story of Jim Thompson.

A lifetime PRCA announcer, Thompson was named the Justin Committeeman of the Year in 2008 for his dedicated work with the Deke Latham Memorial Rodeo in Kaycee, Wyoming. Over his career, he was selected to announce at nearly every major finals-type rodeo in the sport. His notable assignments include seven selections for the National Circuit Finals Steer Roping in Torrington, Wyoming; 15 appearances at the National High School Finals Rodeo; and more than three decades at the Days of '76 rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota.

His contributions to the Western lifestyle have earned him inductions into five prestigious halls: the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center Hall of Fame, the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Black Hills Stock Show Hall of Fame, the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame, and the South Dakota Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Rodeo members will determine this year's inductees. For more information about rodeo membership and the Hall, visit our website: thecowboy.org/rodeo

The 2026 Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition & Sale online catalogue is live.

You can now browse all of the works at the exhibition, presented by Eskridge Lexus, will opens on June 5. Among the artists participating in this year's show is James Morgan, winner of last year's Ann Noble Brown Purchase Award, the event's highest honor.

Morgan has five pieces in the Prix de West.

"I think the most important aspect of painting convincing scenes is being a keen observer," Morgan told Southwest Art Magazine. "Whether it’s a wild animal or any other subject, I try to capture the essence and spirit of the scene, animal and landscape in harmony. I want to make the animals an integral and important part of the landscape, as they are in nature.”

The nominees for this year's class of the National Rodeo Hall of Fame are in! We are profiling their great careers over the next few days.

Today's spotlighted nominee is Jack Sparrowk.

Sparrowk’s rodeo career began in the 1950s at High School and Junior Rodeos in California and Nevada. Later, while attending Cal Poly State University, he competed for four years in all six men’s events, qualified for the NIRA Finals each year, and was a member of the 1960 National Intercollegiate Championship Men’s Team.

As a competitor in the PRCA, he concentrated on ba****ck and saddle bronc riding and competed throughout California, the Northwest and the western states. In the early 1970s, along with Jack Roddy and Bob Cook, he formed Rodeo Stock Contractors (RSC), whose feature bull was the notorious Oscar. RSC furnished stock at rodeos in the West and the NFR.

Postcards from the Trail: Fort Worth Takeover! 📍

The Cowboy Crew just wrapped up an absolute whirlwind of a trip to Fort Worth, including two major championship events at two historic venues! We packed rodeo magic, championship energy and Western heritage into one incredible three-day haul.

Historic Victory at Cowtown Coliseum: We kicked things off by soaking up the electric atmosphere at the Premier Women's Rodeo Championship. A huge thank you to PWR Commissioner Linsay Rosser-Sumpter and her team for rolling out the red carpet for us! We had an amazing time watching these incredible women compete for an $800,000 purse.

Championship Thrills at Dickies Arena: Next up were the Finals. The thrills and spills delivered an unforgettable experience, capped off by watching John Crimber capture the historic 2026 PBR World Champion title!

Behind the Scenes at CowboyChannel: A highlight of the trip was an exclusive tour of The Cowboy Channel's brand-new offices and state-of-the-art studio set. Getting a behind-the-scenes look at the network that keeps Western sports alive and thriving was an unbelievable experience.

Sponsor Love in Cowtown: Of course, no trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards is complete without swinging by our incredible sponsors' storefronts right in the heart of Cowtown to show some love, catch up with friends and check out their latest gear!

The trail is heating right back up for the summer run, but Fort Worth definitely left its mark on the Crew.

The nominees for this year's class of the National Rodeo Hall of Fame are in! We are profiling their great careers over the next few days.

Today, meet Marvin Paul Shoulders.

Born and raised in Henryetta, Oklahoma, Marvin Paul Shoulders carries forward one of rodeo’s most legendary family heritages. He earned his permit in 1968 and competed in ba****ck and bull riding until an injury forced his retirement in 1980.

Marvin’s competitive career was explosive. In 1969, he captured the RCA Ba****ck, Bull Riding, and All-Around titles. He qualified for the NFR four consecutive times (1972–1975) and was crowned the 1973 NFR Champion Bull Rider. Over his career, he rode at iconic venues ranging from Cheyenne to Madison Square Garden.

Post-retirement, Marvin dedicated himself to the industry as a pickup man with the Jim Shoulders Rodeo Company, as an instructor at the Jim Shoulders Riding School and a member of the PRCA Board of Directors

Rodeo members will determine this year's inductees. For more information about rodeo membership and the Hall, visit our website: thecowboy.org/rodeo
