A special thank you to the Black Bay Area organizations, creatives, chefs, vendors, and visitors who brought this celebration to life, and to all of our collaborators and performers for sharing your talent and vision with the community.

Who’s ready to celebrate Juneteenth! at the Museum?! Here’s what you need to know for this year’s Juneteenth Celebration:

• GA tickets are sold out; limited tickets will be available at the door. Member and VIP tickets still available⁠
• OMCA is one block from Lake Merritt BART
• Parking at Alco Park (165 13th St.) for a $7 day rate
• Bring: Picnic blankets, low-back lawn chairs, your own food, non-alcoholic beverages
• Please leave at home: Outside alcohol, large umbrellas/shade structures, and pets (service animals welcome) are not permitted
• There will be no Friday Nights at OMCA this week as we celebrate Juneteenth!

This Friday don’t forget to join Mildred in the James Moore Theater for the exclusive premiere of “Memories in Motion: Selected Stories of Mildred Howard”. 🎬 This new documentary follows Mildred Howard through the homes, neighborhoods, and communities that shaped her life and groundbreaking artistic practice across eight decades in the East Bay.

Following the screening, enjoy a special panel conversation with Mildred Howard and the filmmakers Lamar “MYL3Z” Brown and Delency Parham, moderated by Dr. Ameer Hasan Loggins.

Friday Nights was full of Oakland love and community joy! ✨🎶 Oakland Rising lit up the Garden Stage with soulful harmonies and hometown energy that had the crowd singing along all night long.

Opening June 12, “Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory” is the first major museum exhibition dedicated to the acclaimed Bay Area artist. Featuring iconic collages, found-object sculptures, immersive installations, and never-before-seen works, “Poetics of Memory” traces personal and collective histories through one of the Bay Area’s most influential artistic voices.
