Endless Season is the transcendent duo project featuring legendary multi-instrumentalist Daniel Carter and flourishing saxophonist Ayumi Ish*to. Since collaborating in 2016, the pair has redefined the “auditory escape,” blending acoustic roots with an invigorating electronic dreamscape.
In their debut album (released on 577 Records), Ish*to’s courageous audio production and playful tenor saxophone meet Carter’s masterful expressions on trumpet, clarinet, flute, and piano. Described as a “tranquil, melodic dialogue,” their music weaves together blissful ambiance and deep, nature-inspired soundscapes. As a rising leader in New York’s avant-garde scene, Ish*to joins forces with the philosophical innovator behind 577 Records to create a cosmic, genre-bending experience that represents the future of creative music.

Synesthesia is pleased to present chips of topaz from the master himself Don Alman.
What is a cibachrome?
What is a serenade in blue?
You have to come in person or you can’t see it true.

Don managed to understudy with Lenore Davis of the NY Times, Nathan Farb, Amy Stromsten, Martha Rosler, & George Tice back in the prime days of analog. Having worked in several labs as a pro printer, he broke off on his own in the hayday of dog-eat-dog, quality-over-obscurity, “Absolutely Custom” printing.

He made hay for Annie Liebovitz, Fred Conrad of the NY Times, Peter B. Kaplan, Al Satterwhite, Gilles Larrain, Brian Ashley White & Bill King. He seldom admits his prowess but it oozes off him the minute you ask him about mission or technique.

In the biz he made a living assisting Richard Lovrich of Rapid Eye Movement, Steve Ladner & M. Lorrain. He caught assignments shooting such subjects as Space Shuttle launches, studio fashion for Vogue Magazine, Album covers, & period fashion for Victoria Magazine.

Don, over the years, has worked in multiple photographic supply houses, most notably helming the used dept at K&M forever, taking care of the needs of fellow photographers, and even teaching fledglings our way to fall. Hats off to Don tonight and always.

Please be our guest to see his magnificent B&W’s printed large. And if you have a developed palate, come for his exquisite cibachromes, a rare delicacy which, if you don’t know what it is, you can’t learn about from looking at pictures unless they are in the flesh, something no data or digifile can adequately copy, only to be understood in flagranti. Magnificent.

Sonic and visual artists from NYC, Berlin and Cologne come together for an evening of audio-visual performances. Christina Fuchs (saxophone/clarinet), Claudia Schmitz (live moving image), Dafna Naphtali (voice/electronics), Katherine Liberovskaya (live video & intermedia), Hans Tammen (Blippoo Box) and Sarah Bernstein (violin/voice/effects) meet for several sets of spontaneous groupings, aiming to explore the many combinations of sound and sight inherent in this rare and special ensemble.

Dafna Naphtali is an electronic musician, vocalist, guitarist, composer-performer, creates experimental, interactive, music/sound-art, who develops custom computer programming for her projects with live sound-processing (instruments/voice), field recordings, multichannel (“Audio Chandelier”) installations/performances, audio-augmented-reality soundwalks (“Walkie Talkie Dreams” in New York, Germany, Japan), and work with musical robots. Drawing on her eclectic musical background (jazz, contemporary classical, rock, Greek/near-east music), she collaborates with well-regarded musicians/video-artists internationally 25+ years. She’s received generous support, commissions including NYFA, NYSCA, Foundation. for Contemporary Arts, M3 Mutual Mentorship for Musicians, LABA Fellowship (Lab for Jewish Culture, ongoing) and Guggenheim Fellowship (Music Composition ‘23).
