I’ve called New York home for 33 years.

This morning, while taking my daughter to school, I was carrying her scooter and school belongings. I put the scooter aside and reached for my wallet to pay the bus fare. I needed a moment to manage everything. I paid the fare, but the MTA fare inspector still issued me a warning.

I understand that everyone must pay their fare. My frustration is that I needed a little time to get my payment ready while handling my daughter’s belongings.

A little patience and respectful communication would have made a big difference. Everyone deserves to be treated with understanding and dignity, even during fare enforcement. The New York.
