Today, August 19th, celebrates World Photography Day! 187 years ago, the French government purchased the patent for the daguerreotype, the first permanent photographic process. Now, photography has expanded into a powerful medium in fine arts, capturing light and nature to tell stories.

Join us for our Salon Event where Ruth Antrich and Damien Olsen will perform experimental electronic music! This performance will celebrate “Unbearable Lightness”, our annual summer members and invitational group show. On view now through August 15. RSVP for the Salon Event at the link in our bio.

More about our performers: Ruth Antrich and Damien Olsen Berdichevsky are both members at Pictor Gallery. Their multidisciplinary practices explore relationships between rhythm, form, and experience across visual and performing arts.

Today marks the start of World Photography Week! Celebrated from 8/12-8/26, World Photography Week centers around World Photography Day on 8/19. In history, this day commemorates the French government’s purchase of the patent for the Daguerreotype in 1839, launching photography to global audiences.

Can you believe this is the last week to see “Unbearable Lightness?”
Featuring the works of our members and invited guest artists, “Unbearable Lightness” presents a wide array of mediums and styles, exploring a common theme of the quiet appearance of ease.

Stop by today through Saturday to check out “Unbearable Lightness” before it closes! Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12-6 pm, by appointment.

Also, celebrating the success of “Unbearable Lightness” is a Salon Event this Thursday, 8/14, from 6-8 pm. Join us for a live performance of electronic music by Pictor Gallery members Ruth Antrich and Damien Olsen Berdichevsky. RSVP details at the link in our bio.
