If Belle Meade no longer breeds thoroughbreds, why are horses here every summer?

For generations, Belle Meade was recognized around the world as one of America's premier thoroughbred farms. Horses like Bonnie Scotland helped shape bloodlines that continue to influence champions today.

While breeding operations ended long ago, welcoming horses back to the property each summer honors that legacy and gives guests the chance to connect with an important part of Belle Meade's history.

Nelson & Alibi are here for a few more months, so don't miss your chance to see them!

Hospitality has always been a part of Belle Meade's story 🏛️🍷

That story was shaped by many people, from the Harding-Jackson family to the enslaved men, women, and children whose labor, skills, and resilience helped build and sustain this property for generations.

Today, guests can explore these layered histories through our tours and experiences before gathering for a meal, a tasting, or a glass of wine. Whether you're stepping onto the Mansion porch after a tour or settling in for a Wine & Food Pairing, you're engaging with a tradition of hospitality that has evolved over more than 200 years.
