Hello, I am Marilyn Dale! 👋Thank you for taking a moment to get to know me. Somewhere along the line I read, “whatever you loved to do in kindergarten is what yo

u’ll love to do all your life.” For me, it’s true, and I am both so lucky and blessed. I loved drawing and coloring. My favorite toys were my crayons.Today, as a fine artist, I am an award winning artist, a colorist, accomplished in oil, watercolor and pastel. I am inspired by landscapes and people, creating everything from traditional portraiture through abstractions. I’ve earned a Certificate in Painting from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and taken additional coursework there for more than twenty years. A working artist, graphic designer and art instructor, I’ve taught art to adults in the continuing education department of a small college and my local art league. I enjoy painting in oil, watercolor and pastel, from traditional portraiture through abstraction. In addition to artwork to hang in your home or office, I have designed large-scale liturgical fabric and stained glass works and had several works published. I enjoy working on commissions, where the pieces have personal significance to the owner. As the chair of the Art and Environment Ministry for my church for many years, I've designed large-scale liturgical fabric and stained glass works. Several of my pieces have been featured in publications by the North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics, the Lutheran Church, University Hill Congregation and frequently by the Ministry and Liturgy Magazine. I am also the author of Energize Your Art Ministry.

Where do you spend the most time? Does the art in that room actually reflect how much time you spend there?

The spaces we use most deserve the most thought.

I'm Hearing Things

Archival inks are used to create these high quality prints on wrapped canvas or fine art paper in a wide range of sizes to fit your needs.

These marks are my reaction to repetitive sounds.... sounds that once revealed on paper showed me a flock of birds in glorious flight. What do you see?

I enjoyed making this series, Reverberations, waking early to catch the fleeting sounds of birds. It was amazing how repetitive they are, and at the same time how eternally different. I love what emerged in response. The simplicity is confounded by the complexity of the marks.

Here is a question worth sitting with: what do you actually see when you walk into your own home?

Not what is there, but what do you still notice? What draws your eye?

What have you stopped seeing because it has been there so long?

"Bright Day Dawns" and the online art gallery is here, if you need to switch things up.

"Path to the Beach" // https://www.marilyndale.com/warehouse-originals-limited-editions-standard-products/original_art_products/path-to-the-beach

Approximately 20" x 28" original painting - inks, paint and collage on archival paper, unframed.

Reminisce with me as you walk on the steps to the beach in Door County. An abstracted version of the dunes, it is rich and bold, full of the energy of the lake and the wonderful summers you can enjoy there.

For authentication, it is signed and dated on the back.

What about you? Does spending more time outside in warmer months give you the itch to rearrange?

Thanks for stopping by to check out Take Me to My House in the Dunes today.

And, I'm genuinely curious, what will you be moving around this spring?

One of the simplest ways to change how a room feels is to add art.

Not because it fills space, but because it adds meaning. A home starts to feel abundant when it holds things that reflect curiosity, memory, and personality. Art brings those layers into a room without saying a word.

Sometimes a single artwork can shift the entire atmosphere of a space.
