Please note that if you plan to visit the museum Friday, June 12 or Saturday, June 13 several streets and intersections will be closed for Taste of Muskegon.

The easiest way to access the museum is to take Fifth St. to Clay Ave. Our parking lot will still be open and available to museum guests! And if you are coming down to the event, stop by the museum - Muskegon Co. Residents receive free admission, and we are open 10am-4pm.

The affected streets include:

3rd St, from Clay Ave to Webster Ave (including intersections)
4th St, from Clay Ave to Webster Ave (including intersections)
Clay Ave, from 3rd St to 4th St (including intersections)
Webster Ave, from 3rd St to 4th St (including intersections)

The Taste of Muskegon will take place June 12-13, 2026, in Hackley Park.

Have you ever wondered, "What type of cloud is that"? Our Nature Cat Campers next week will find out! They'll also get to make this cloud viewer so they always have a guide.

Adventure is calling—and it's taking us outside!

Tally Ho! Nature Adventure Awaits is a free, Nature Cat-inspired outdoor program visiting parks around Muskegon County all summer long. Each outing features a different natural setting, hands-on activities, and a chance to explore the world right in our own backyard.

First stop: Dune Harbor Park. Learn about the importance of sand dunes and help plant some dune grass.

This object from the Lakeshore Museum's collection is an official scorecard for the 1946 Greater Muskegon Girls Professional Baseball Club, the Muskegon Lassies. The card contains a list of sponsors, Officers and Directors of the team, and other league information.

Signatures of players are on the cover: "Shorty" Pryer, Alva Joe Fischer, Dorothy Montgomery, Donna Cook, "Lefty" Applegren, Doris Sams, Eileen O'Brien, Erma Bergmann, Norma Metrolis, Dorothy Stolze, Francis Grube, Ralph Buzz Boyle, Jo Lenard, Mickey Maguire, and Sara Reeser.

On this 82nd Anniversary of the D-Day invasion, we remember Muskegon's Joe Beyrle. In Jumpin' Joe's words: "We got the stand-up and hook-up, red light, green light and jumped at 400 feet, and I landed on the church roof at Ste. Come Du Mont, taking fire from the church steeple, slid down and made my way through a cemetery surrounding a church, over a wall and headed toward our objective, which was two wooden bridges over the Douave River behind Utah Beach." Joe would be on his own, completing his part of the mission, for 20 hours before being captured by the German Army.

I graduated from St. Joseph High School in Muskegon and had a scholarship to attend Notre Dame, which I did not accept. Instead, I enlisted in the United States Army.

Knitters, this one's for you! 🧶 Join us at the Heritage Museum of Business and Industry for National Knit in Public Day.

While you stitch, learn something you might not know: Muskegon County was once home to at least four knitting mills. There's more fiber arts history in these walls than meets the eye.

Bring your current project, pull up a chair, and enjoy some stitching in good company.

Calling all young nature lovers! 🐱🌿

Registration is open for Nature Cat Camp—a two-day hands-on camp inspired by the PBS show and our newest exhibit, Nature Cat: Backyard and Beyond.

Campers will make bottle birdfeeders, go "birding" inside the museum, craft musical instruments from natural materials, hunt for nature on a scavenger hunt, learn about clouds, and more. Whether your kiddo is a die-hard

Nature Cat fan or just loves exploring the world around them, this one's for them.
