Women's and men's jackets, women's dresses & tops and men's shirts. Max collected exceptional vintage clothing in Montana for over 4 decades at a time when the supply was plentiful and interesting. The Barn at Thunder Road is hosting a Gouache Painting Workshop led by Missoula/Arlee artist Leslie Van Stavern Millar on Sunday May 17. This one-day workshop will explore the essentials of this unique and versatile water medium. Reserve a place on our website: www.thunderroad.farm/events.

What is gouache? Gouache is a beautiful matte watercolor paint, characterized by an opaque surface. This means you can layer light colors over dark ones (like acrylic), but also have the water solubility and on-page blending of watercolor. It was used as early as the 9th century in Persian miniature painting and was commonly employed by artists through the 1950’s before falling out of favor with contemporary artists. It is currently undergoing a revival.

With nearly 50 years experience in painting gouache on paper, Leslie Van Stavern Millar is uniquely prepared to familiarize you with the paint at whatever level you are.

Jay Rummel's spectacular exhibit at the Relic Gallery, 124 N. Higgins Avenue ends this coming week - Thursday April 9, 4 - 7 PM; closing Friday, April 10th, 5 - 8 PM. If you are interested in Rummel's prints, ceramics and paintings this is an unparalleled opportunity to see work not usually on public display.
