Conceived as a living exhibition unfolding through the corridors of the hotel, the Faena Art Digital Program brings artistic practices into motion through time, image, and movement—creating encounters that exist somewhere between the physical and the digital. Rooted in Faena Art’s commitment to experimentation, cultural exchange, and public engagement, the program creates a space for artists to explore new forms of storytelling while connecting audiences with both emerging voices and artists whose practices have shaped the history of Faena Art. Now on view through November 1, We Knew the World in Fragments of Color by Victoria Ruiz transforms the corridor into a meditation on memory, displacement, identity, and belonging—inviting us to encounter the work not simply as an image, but as a shifting landscape of color and experience.

WE KNEW THE WORLD IN FRAGMENTS OF COLOR

Now on view at Faena New York, We Knew the World in Fragments of Color by Victoria Ruiz explores how living between worlds can transform the way we see, remember, and belong. Drawing from Latin American symbolism, spirituality, and an intensely chromatic visual language, Ruiz creates a series of handcrafted full-body suits that become vessels for memory, identity, and collective experience. In ten photographs, figures emerge against saturated fields of color, each composition carrying its own language and presence. Together, the works trace successive moments in Venezuela’s recent history, transforming personal and political realities into a vivid meditation on memory, displacement, survival, and belonging.

For its first chapter, Miami-based artist Kelly Breez shares the books, writers, and stories that have stayed with her—revealing another layer of the sharp humor and singular perspective that define her work. A longtime collaborator of Faena Art, Breez transformed the Faena Art Project Room with Dirt’s Dive, an irreverent yet tender portrait of South Florida’s disappearing dive-bar culture. Here, the conversation continues through the pages that have accompanied her, offering a glimpse into the references, obsessions, and ideas that inhabit her creative world.
