"The Rev. Jesse Jackson did not lead a specific, famous long-distance march from Sugar Ditch in Tunica, Mississippi, to Jackson, Mississippi. Instead, Jackson famously visited and campaigned in the impoverished Sugar Ditch Alley neighborhood in July 1985, bringing national media attention and famously calling it "America's Ethiopia" to spotlight extreme poverty and lack of sanitation."

, while visiting family in Money, Mississippi, 14-year-old Emmett Till, a Black teen from Chicago, was brutally murdered for allegedly flirting with a white woman four days earlier.

His assailants—the white woman’s husband and his brother—made Emmett carry a 75-pound cotton gin fan to the bank of the Tallahatchie River and ordered him to take off his clothes. The two men then beat him nearly to death, gouged out his eye, shot him in the head and then threw his body, tied to the cotton gin fan with barbed wire, into the river.

( On Sunday, March 8th 2026 in Montgomery Alabama, Cam Mtenzi had the privilege of meeting and shaking hands with Martin Luther King III
and recieved a royalty hug from Civil Rights Pioneer Mrs.Sheyann Webb-Christburg.") On the Parking lot of Montgomery Alabama Airport.

Sheyann Webb Christburg is a civil rights activist and co-author of the book Selma, Lord, Selma. As a nine-year-old, Webb took part in the first attempt at the Selma to Montgomery march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge on March 7, 1965, known as Bloody Sunday, and was known as Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Smallest Freedom Fighter".
