We love that on a single day we could deliver two amazing pieces that are such polar opposites!

On the left a collection Olympics from the early 1900's. The client trusted us enough to just drop them off and let us do what we do!

On the right an ultra cool, 8 foot wide image we created and reverse-printed on acrylic. It's mounted to the wall using stainless steel standoffs for a floating look. We started with nothing more than one of the client's early catalogs for this one!

We had a great customer stop in with piles of memories of concerts going back to the mid-70s. He said he'd be back in town in a year, and to do something special. We didn't want to do the typical rows of tickets that you can get anywhere. We came up with is idea of floating them over an image of a vinyl album. We floated them a half-inch off the backing to create the cool shadow effect and found a great industrial frame to pull it all together. Today's the day! Let's hope he loves it!

This week our small village suffered the tragic loss of one of our swans. It'll take years to recover and hopefully have another pair of adult swans in the Swan Pond which is a century old focal point. The design of the mural was done and was being painted by Mark Noble on Saturday. A few days later we found out three teens had jumped the fence and Faye had been killed and 4 of her signets were taken. The signets have been recovered and are being cared for. Eventually they'll be returned to the pond.

My niece Ally St. Laurent recognized the cosmic coincidence of the timing of the mural and the events that followed. She posted a pic on Instagram which caught the attention of Jeff Kulikowsky and Steph Shtoyko at NewsChannel 9. We'd like to thank all involved for giving the village some love.

As a non-essential business, we are locking our doors until the Governor tells us it's safe to reopen. This week has proven to me that it's seeing the faces of our clients that make this such an enjoyable place to come every day. Our clients have trusted us with their art and their memories and that's the very soul of what makes this place feel magic.

Of our 33 years in business this week has been the most surreal. I started the week feeling like Kevin from Home Alone. (It turns out the furnace does make weird noises) Now it's starting to feel more like the Shining, so I'm going to go spend time with my family.

I hope you all have a chance to do the same. I wish you all good health and I hope your families get stronger with the time you have together. This is an opportunity we may never get again. Take care of each other.

Feel free to email me with any questions at [email protected]

We at St. Laurent Framing take our responsibilities seriously and we want you to know that we've put plans in place to insure your continued health should you choose to visit. Starting with the door handles, we will disinfect each surface that anyone, including us, comes in contact with. Our samples will be disinfected before being replaced on the wall, and the materials used in our frames will be disinfected upon arrival and again before the finished projects are wrapped for the trip home.

We will continue to evaluate the spread of Covid-19 and will continue to update the best practices to protect all we come in contact with. We understand that at times like this our clients find it important to fill their homes with the beauty of art and framed memories, and we want to remain here to help. With these plans in place, we plan to remain open with our regular schedule. If you'd feel more comfortable with a one-on-one visit, we invite you call us at 315-682-2040 or email me at [email protected] and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.

Like you, we are also concerned for our families so we request that you postpone your visit if you're feeling under the weather or believe you may have been exposed to the virus. By working together we can insure we all stay healthy and can resume our regular lives as soon as possible, but for now we hope you will all enjoy the time you spend with your families.

Sometimes we have to take it a step further to make something really special. In addition to a wide walnut frame, we created a liner frame laminated with birch bark from northern Washington state. The finishing touch is the trim done with natural birch twigs.

It's been a while since we've had time to post, but here is a project we wanted to share. This isn't really our thing, but we rarely ever turn away a project that seems impossible. A local couple inherited this beautiful mantle clock that has been in the family since 1906. Unfortunately, in transporting it back to NY, someone put their elbow through the glass. Like I said, this isn't our thing, but it did seem impossible so we had to try.

We started by reassembling all of the glass onto a backing and then scanned it. We then spent 12 hours recreating the original image in Photoshop then sent the image to Adam at Budget One Hour Signs to cut it into gold vinyl. The hard part was then "weeding" the vinyl to reveal the intricate image. Six more hours, and the results are amazing! No one would ever guess it's not the original. It feels good to restore some history, and some harmony as well!
