During the Arts and Crafts era, no dining room was complete without the dinner gong. It was so popular that Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Workshops, L. & J.G. Stickley, and Stickley Brothers Co. all offered a version of the dinner gong or chimes.
We hope that you find a way to ring in the National Day of the Gong!

Today is National Skilled Trades Day, and this historic photo from the L. & J.G. Stickley factory in Fayetteville, NY is a reminder that great design is only possible because of great skill. From precise joinery to careful finishing, the craftspeople in this shop built furniture meant to last—and their workmanship still shapes what we preserve and share today. THIS SUNDAY, MAY 3, join local architecture historian and great tour guide, Sam Gruber, for the first of three walking tours of Southside neighborhoods, architecture, and history. These tours are presented by the Preservation Association of CNY. Not too much Arts & Crafts here (a few houses might qualify), but lots of interesting architecture. history, and new community developments.

There is a soul to the Southside that you can’t find anywhere else in the region and this Spring, PACNY is proud to announce we are opening the doors to the history, architecture, development, and stories of Syracuse’s Southside with a brand-new 3-part walking tour series.
