Class looked a little different this week! 💾✨

Our ITEC students traded traditional slides for a deep dive into computing history at MGA’s Museum of Technology. From breaking down iconic early marketing campaigns and Apple design philosophy to checking out rare gems like the Archistrat 4b prototype, the Altair 8088db, and Dr. Spangler’s still-running Apple IIc... it was the ultimate hands-on bridge between tech history and where the industry is heading.

We hosted a round table for Convocation today. One of the more helpful conversations centered around our rotary phone. Several visitors commented how this could solve the problem of the aged not being able to use a modern smartphone.

Sometimes the solution to a modern problem can be found in the past.

The Museum of Technology had a wonderful showing at Vintage Computer Festival Southeast this past weekend. Faculty Curator Tina Ashford enjoyed meeting attendees, answering questions about the Museum’s rare Archistrat 4s and 4b systems, and sharing the programs of Middle Georgia State University, where the MoT proudly resides.

A great weekend celebrating computing history and connecting with fellow vintage‑tech enthusiasts. @

Did you know watching Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in true 70mm IMAX relies on 1960s mechanical technology? No new 70mm IMAX projectors have been built in ~50 years... technicians must retrofit vintage parts to keep them alive.
