Museum of Arts and Sciences "Discover The World--Explore The Universe" at the Museum of Arts and Sciences! Our collections are often the basis for original exhibitions.

The Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, GA, presents a wide variety of Art and Science exhibitions that change every few months, plus the Museum has a full-dome Planetarium, Science on a Sphere®, Mini-Zoo with over 40 live animals, interactive Discovery House, beautiful Nature Trails, 200+ seat Auditorium, Museum Store, and much more. Our Museum has hosted traveling exhibits like the Smithsonian

Institution's "Titanoboa: Monster Snake!" (one of only 15 museums on the tour), National Geographic's "MAPS," and the popular animatronic "Destination Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaurs & Ice Age Mammals." We also design and present original exhibits such as "The Painters' Reel," which traveled to several other museums. The Museum owns an extensive Permanent Collection of fine art items and scientific specimens. Daily programs are presented in the Mini-Zoo and Planetarium (visit the Museum's website for schedules). All exhibits and shows are included with standard admission:
$5 Children (age 3-17)
$7 Students with ID
$8 Seniors (62+) and Military with ID
$10 Adults

Residents of Central Georgia are encouraged to purchase a Museum Membership if they plan to visit the Museum of Arts and Sciences throughout the year. Members receive unlimited free admission, plus many other benefits.

STEAM Spectacular is THIS SATURDAY! From 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., September 5th! We have a packed schedule full of activities, programs, and shows the whole family will enjoy! Join Macon Little Theatre’s Family Series in the Museum of Arts and Sciences Amphitheater for The Percy Jackson Experience! This 30-minute stage show will perform 3 times and will feature a cast of 17 on stage followed by actor encounter adventures with additional appearances by characters from MLT’s upcoming production of Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief! Update: Thanks to a generous donation we have received a deep freezer! Thank you to everyone who shared!
Do you have a deep freezer taking up space, and using up electricity? Donate it to the Museum of Arts and Sciences! The Mini-Zoo is currently in need of another deep freezer! Our reptiles are offered a variety of frozen food to maintain proper nutrition, and we’re running out of space. The extent of cloud cover for tonight's eclipse is uncertain. Check the sky from where you are before coming to the museum. If you can't see the moon, we probably won't be able to observe it from the museum.

However, the museum will still be hosting an eclipse event regardless of the sky conditions! A live broadcast of the eclipse from where it is visible will be available and reoccurring planetarium programs will explain why eclipses happen. Look up into the night sky late Thursday night and you will see an almost total lunar eclipse! While it’s not a total eclipse, 96% of the moon’s surface will be in the Earth’s shadow! Join us from 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 1:30 a.m. on Friday with the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society to view the lunar eclipse through telescopes. The telescope observing is weather-permitting, but in the case of rain we will still have live broadcasts of the eclipse in the Planetarium, and reoccurring programming that describes what causes an eclipse to happen.

Entrance for this event will be through the Planetarium door on the east side of the building. The museum will be closed and only the Planetarium and Observatory will be open. Admission by donation.

August 12's total solar eclipse, visible from Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, will be shown on live broadcasts at the museum from 12-2 p.m. If the sky is clear, solar telescopes will present live views of the sun, even though the eclipse is not visible from Georgia. Planetarium shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2 & 4 p.m. will explain how solar eclipses happen and preview a lunar eclipse, which will be visible across the entire U.S., on August 27.
