Join us as we welcome Dr. Brian Alexander, Associate Professor of Politics at Washington & Lee University, to discuss his groundbreaking new book, “Jefferson’s Manual of Parliamentary Practice”. Dr. Alexander will share his fascinating research—which began with the discovery of Thomas Jefferson’s handwritten notes in the university archives—uncovering the definitive 1812 edition of the text. Copies of Alexander's book are available to purchase in the Poplar Forest Museum Shop! A Q&A session and refreshments will follow the presentation.

The "Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation" traveling exhibit is on loan from Virginia Museum of History & Culture and will be located in the lower level of Thomas Jefferson's historic retreat home through November 13, 2026. Experience the Revolution as featured on 10 double-sided banners during our continued commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and our nation!
