Congratulations!

One of our former students - Emma - has just been hired as an archaeologist at Monticello! Emma came to Sandusky as a University of Lynchburg undergraduate. She discovered archaeology and that became her passion. She participated in our archaeology digs and worked in the Sandusky archaeology lab. After graduation she went to the University of Tennessee and got her masters degree.

This is the highest purpose of Sandusky. To help students find their passion and give them the tools to pursue their goals and dreams.

We are so very proud of you Emma!

Dear Lynchburg At War Community,

It is with a mixture of emotions that your Lynchburg at War film team has made the decision to postpone our highly anticipated film premiere. In post-production, we discovered new, compelling stories of Lynchburg’s civilians during one of America’s most turbulent eras. Integrating these deeper perspectives is the only way to finish this project in a way that truly honors their sacrifices and our city's story as a whole.

This choice, while not easy, resulted from careful consideration with our key stakeholders. All tickets previously purchased will automatically transfer to the new premiere date of APRIL 10, 2027. We sincerely hope everyone will be able to join us on the new date, but if you cannot attend, contact the Academy box office at 434.846-8499 for a full refund.

We thank you for your continued trust as we pursue this important work to the highest level of award-winning criteria and academic stewardship. Our deepest thanks go to our cast and contributors for your steadfast support as we continue this journey to preserve the authentic stories of the people who built the city we call home.

We promise you, it will be worth the wait and effort. See you on the red carpet!

Sincerely,

Daniel W. Dixon

We had a great time with summer campers from the City of Lynchburg Parks & Recreation Dept. They asked a lot of questions and especially enjoyed hearing about our ghost stories. University of Lynchburg
