We are pleased to share that gallery artists Bruce Conner and Wallace Berman are included in BAY AREA, a group exhibition at Each Modern in Taipei, Taiwan.

Continuing Each Modern’s city-based curatorial series, BAY AREA explores the San Francisco Bay Area’s rich cultural and artistic history and its influence on contemporary art and technology. Long before the region became a global center for technological innovation, it was a hub of artistic experimentation, countercultural movements, and radical new ways of seeing.

Bringing together significant works from different periods, the exhibition considers how the Bay Area’s distinctive creative environment helped shape the relationship between art, media, identity, and the emergence of artificial intelligence.

On view now through November 7.

Last week to see Alicia Adamerovich’s “Conundrums” at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art! The exhibition closes Saturday, October 17.

Adamerovich’s debut museum exhibition brings together paintings, sculptures, and works on paper that reveal a futuristic natural world. Raised near the forests of Pennsylvania by a carpenter father and biologist mother, Adamerovich developed a deep curiosity about and connection to nature.

Her paintings explore space in strange and unexpected ways. Shadows carve out hills and valleys across surfaces, mysterious light sources emerge, and materials such as wax, pumice, and sand transform paintings into three-dimensional landscapes.

On view through October 17, 2026.

Last week to see Alicia Adamerovich’s “Conundrums” at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art! The exhibition closes Saturday, October 17.

On View | Charles Arnoldi: String Theory

Explore String Theory, an exhibition of paintings created between 2016 and 2019 by Charles Arnoldi, one of the most influential figures in West Coast abstraction.

Through an intricate interplay of line, shape, and color, Arnoldi transforms spontaneous gestures into dynamic compositions that balance structure and movement. The resulting paintings reflect more than five decades of artistic exploration and innovation.

STRING THEORY

Join us tonight, Saturday, October 3, from 6–8 PM, for the opening reception of Charles Arnoldi’s String Theory.

This important series of paintings marks Arnoldi’s continuing mastery of method and abstraction. As Fred Hoffman writes in his catalogue essay for the Busan Metropolitan Art Museum:

“Early in his career, then, Arnoldi was able to assert his freedom from the ghost of repetition. This newfound independence thereby enabled the artist to more strongly identify himself with the commitment to invention witnessed in those masters who emerged as the New York School…”

While abstraction was fostered on the East Coast after World War II, its lessons in painterly emotion intermingled in Los Angeles with Minimalism, Pop, and subsequent artistic movements. Arnoldi’s String Theory paintings bring these histories together in a remarkable achievement of synthesis and creativity.

Join us tomorrow, Friday, October 2 at 11 AM, for an artist-led walkthrough of ‘String Theory’ with Charles Arnoldi.

For more than 55 years, Arnoldi has explored the possibilities of line, shape, color, and material, developing a singular body of work within the history of West Coast abstraction.

‘String Theory’ brings together paintings created between 2016 and 2019. The series takes its title from the intricate networks of lines that structure the compositions, while drawing conceptual inspiration from Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind and its examination of the uniquely human capacity for language, imagination, and abstract thought.

Opening this Saturday, October 3rd from 6 to 8pm. Charles Arnoldi “String Theory.”

Artist Walkthrough Friday, October 2nd 11am

This exhibition focuses on a series of paintings that Charles Arnoldi created between 2016-2019,
titled “String Theory.” While in Physics “String Theory” is an important research discipline, Arnoldi applied the series title due to the formal aspects of the paintings (although their complexity could surely be linked to physics in a future dissertation.)
The ideas originated from a book, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by
Yuval Noah Harari where the author posits that humans developed unique cognitive abilities, including language and the capacity to imagine things that do not physically exist.

FINAL TWO WEEKS | Alicia Adamerovich: “Conundrums”

On view through October 17 at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art.

“Conundrums,” Alicia Adamerovich’s debut museum exhibition, brings together paintings, sculptures, and works on paper that reveal a mysterious, futuristic natural world.

Drawing from her upbringing near the forests of Pennsylvania and a lifelong curiosity about the natural world, Adamerovich creates works where strange light sources emerge, shadows carve out imagined landscapes, and materials including wax, pumice, sand, wood, steel, copper, and resin push painting into three-dimensional space.

Abstract rather than surreal, her work draws from everyday life while remaining deliberately unresolved—inviting humor, ambiguity, and transformation. Nothing is quite settled, and that’s the point.

Don’t miss the final two weeks of Conundrums, on view at SLOMA through October 17.
