I met Meghan Murray in 2022 when she was curated into our exhibition titled Fresh Faces. She’s an excellent painter and I was waiting to find the perfect painting for my personal collection. I love an artwork that can be lived with, enjoyed by my family, and brings joy to our home which so happens to be near the sea 🦞. Thank you Meghan C Murray for this wonderful painting!

DTLA Arts Weekend returns this weekend and Abigail Ogilvy Gallery will be open July 16–18. The event brings together some of Downtown Los Angeles’ most dynamic contemporary art spaces for a weekend of exhibition openings, artist talks, special events, and extended gallery hours. Visitors can explore a diverse range of contemporary practices at Night Gallery, Band of Vices, Royale projects, VIELMETTER LOS ANGELES, Track 16, noon-projects, Artbug, Luis De Jesus 🇵🇷, Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, and Nicodim Gallery, among other participating venues.

A new series by , the works are less about sexuality and more about femininity as something constructed, folded, worn, and lived within.

The artist approaches underwear as portraits rather than functional objects. A garment that is a very ordinary and everyday item, delicately painted, while also being extremely loaded.

Thinking back to this painting from a previous exhibition, Place Setting, and how an artist’s practice so beautifully evolves. In this series, “The settings of each painting—the desert, the road, the tunnel, and the horizon—are purposefully chosen to evoke both a journey and a sense of desolation. The vast desert represents both the limitless potential and the isolation of human endeavors, the road represents life’s unpredictable path, while the tunnel, inspired by the iconic trompe l’oeil painted tunnel from the 1949 Looney Tunes episode The Fast and the Furry-ous, mixes hope, persistence, insatiable appetite, and uncertainty.”

Wilhelm Neusser’s new paintings are nod to previous Realist painters who depicted agricultural labor, such as Courbet, Millet, Van Gogh, Homer. The autumn harvest of the crimson-colored berries, taking place from Mid-September early November, is an agricultural spectacle along the shore of Massachusetts. Neusser has explored the subject since 2018 and established a substantial body of around the harvest, merging observations of regional agriculture with expressions of inner landscape.
