In response to the widespread local, state and national concern about children’s health Agape Children's Museum has begun a Healthy Lifestyle Initiative that aims to improve the health and wellness of children and their families through programs, exhibits, partnerships, outreaches, training, publications and community events.

Mission: To provide a hands on learning environment that promotes the overall health and well-being of children and their families.

MAY is our Annual Museum Donation Month and your contribution is vital to bringing literacy and health programs through the power of art into the lives of thousands of children, youth, and families throughout Long Beach and its surrounding communities. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, supports and provides literacy, arts and health education and activities for thousands of children and youth in our museum, school, and community programs. This week we highlight the
Agape Cares Program, the Community Service branch of Agape Children’s Museum and serves the Community in many different ways. The program builds on the mission of addressing important health, art and literacy issues in our community. Agape Cares programs and volunteers work to provide endless hours of hands-on service to kids and families living, learning and playing in communities within and around Greater Long Beach.
Some of Agape Cares program accomplishments to the Greater Long Beach with your giving have been:
• Yearly Harvest Festival feeding and servicing Families in need and partnering with Foodfinders, Inc.
• Holiday Toy Drive for Children and Families with Autism sponsored by 27 Area CHASE Banks
• Conducts Art Show Program for Orangewood Children’s Home in Orange, CA
• Conducts Art Therapy Activity at Miller’s Children’s Hospital’s Child-Life Unit
• Conducts Family Art Programming at Long Beach Rescue Mission’s Lydia House
• Serving Complimentary Meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Long Beach
Agape Cares Program was created on a foundation of strong partnerships with community organizations, which continue to positively influence children and families in our community. Community partners have joined Agape Cares in a joint effort to support projects and activities that enhance the community they serve. These critical and important partnerships provide many opportunities to address a variety of health, art and literacy needs

Summer Hansen, Hector Rodriquez, and CHASE Bank to be Honored at ACM Red Party Gala on Saturday, June 8th.

LONG BEACH, CA (May 6, 2019) – Agape Children’s Museum announced today
the 2019 recipients of their Heart For Kids Award, honoring an individual(s) and
corporation or foundation, for:
• Strengthening children’s love for learning through the arts, literacy and health;
• Helping to make additional and better play possible for South Bay area children;
• Demonstrating a commitment to learning through arts, literacy and health;
• Making outstanding contributions of time and or/investment to enrich the lives
of children;
• Making outstanding contributions to strengthen and advance the mission and outreaches of Agape Children’s Museum.

This year’s recipient of the Heart For Kids Lifetime Individual Award is Summer Hansen, for her 25 years of dedication, commitment and service to the children and families, of our community. Children’s Day USA started in 1993 as a heart based project of Summer Hansen to promote people of all ages and celebrating life. The Children’s Day Festival was created to inspire everyone to do something wonderful to make our world a better place.

The 2019 Kids at Heart Corporate Award goes to Hector Rodriquez and CHASE Banks the Museum’s Official Autism Holiday Toy Drive Partner – in recognition for their continued commitment to the children and families of our community. Last Holiday Season CHASE and their record 27 local banks collected over 300 toys for those neediest of children and their families. Hector who is the Chase Bank Manager for the Lakewood Branch has voluntarily taken the lead and been instrumental in helping to coordinate and connect banks in his district to make this campaign a yearly success. The Kids at Heart Awards presentation will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2019, 6:30 pm at the Museum’s Red Party Reception at the Long Beach Masonic Banquet Hall, 3610 Locust Ave in Long Beach benefiting the Museum’s art, literacy and health programs. Outstanding Agape Children's Museum Celebration for National Children's Dental Health Month last Saturday at the Burnett Library in Long Beach. Special Thanks to Head Librarian Shiloh Moore and Event Sponsors; All Kids Dental team and Dr. Gregory E. Le's Long Beach Cosmetic Dentistry and his Dental Assistant Norma for the Dental Goody Bags.
Children and their Families were treated to Dental Art with using the cleaning Brush as a painting tool. Museum Mascot Hearty Marty made a surprise visit. Volunteers from Ship Bob Inc. also helped with the event. Lastly, gifts and toys were raffled off and each family went home with a Goody Bag filled with Dental Health Needs.

AGAPE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM (ACM) is Long Beach’s only children museum. It is a “Museum Without Walls,” meaning presently it is a mobile platform designed to be able to outreach to our local communities. Our mission is to provide a hands-on learning environment that promotes the overall health and awareness of children and their families. Since 2011, ACM has served as an art, literacy and health advocate and resource for children and caregivers living in the greater Long Beach area and the surrounding communities. The museum prides itself on forging partnerships with other organizations and participating in community events, educational outreach programs and traveling exhibits.

Autism and Special Needs Families are invited to Agape’s special Art Filled program designed for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their family and friends. The Free event includes structured workshops specifically designed to help children with autism develop social skills, creative problem-solving, and expression through art. The program’s supportive environment also helps strengthen family ties and builds a sense of community for families affected by autism.
The Event will be held on Saturday, May 12th from noon to 3 pm at the Michelle Obama Library in North Long Beach.

General information

The newly founded Agape Children’s Museum, is a 501 (c) (3) family-based health and educationally minded organization that provides intellectual, emotional, social and physical development to children in the gateway cities of Southern California. Currently, operating as a traveling or “Museum without Walls” museum, and scheduled to open as a full fledge facility in 2019, ACM, through its "Healthy Way Iniative", has begun to create a long standing commitment to implementing sound disease prevention and health promotion practices for the children and families that the museum serves.
