Lake Jackson Historical Association Our mission is to provide education relative to the history and culture of Lake Jackson, TX. Dow Office Museum, and Jackson Plantation Historic Site.

Founded in 1981, the Lake Jackson Historical Association (LJHA) is a non-profit organization operating the Lake Jackson Historical Museum, Alden B. Our mission is to provide education relative to the history and culture of Lake Jackson, Texas.

Today was the first day of our Dia de los Mu***os Bilingual Storytime in collaboration with the Lake Jackson Library , and it was a blast! It was an hour full of singing, dancing, crafts, and storytime! We have one day left, so join us tomorrow (Wednesday) from 10:30-11:30am at the museum!

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! As we honor the history and contributions of Native Americans, we want to also remember that Indigenous peoples and their culture are not relics of history. They are a living part of modern society. A popular misconception about the Karankawa is that this group of people is extinct; however, this is not the case.

Karankawa that survived war and disease during the 19th century assimilated into Mexican and Anglo-American societies while preserving pieces of their culture. Today, the Karankawa Kadla (mixed Karankawa) are working together to revitalize their culture. Learn more about this at their official site: https://karankawas.com/
