Join us at 7:00 PM on Tuesdays and the 4th Friday in September for BASF Planetarium's *NEW* show all about exoplanets, "Seeking New Worlds: Planets Beyond Our Solar System"!

The hunt for other worlds is on! Scientists are hard at work looking for exoplanets, worlds beyond our solar system. What are the planets made of? Do they have atmospheres? How do we find them? Come learn how the newest space telescopes are being used to answer these questions and more.

📢📢📢DEADLINE EXTENDED!📢📢📢 The submission period for art for the Los Vivos y Los Mu***os 4th Annual Juried Exhibition has been extended to MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 at 11:59 PM! Submit NOW: https://losvivosylosmuertos2026.artcall.org/

Los Vivos y Los Mu***os is an exhibition featuring art that explores and honors the cultures, heritage, traditions and rich history of Mexico and the southwest United States with a concentration on work inspired by Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead).

Established and emerging artists (ages 14 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration. A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each media category for an emerging artist and an established artist.

The art exhibition will be held at The Center for the Arts & Sciences, hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council, from Tuesday, October 6 through Monday, November 2!

We are CLOSED TODAY as we prepare for The Starry Night 50th Celebration tonight! This includes Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, Brazosport Art League gallery and BASF Planetarium lobby.

We'll see you tomorrow! Our Saturday hours are 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Sunday.

Tickets to The Starry Night 50th Celebration dinner & program are SOLD OUT, but the party doesn’t stop there! We’re excited to announce a limited number of tickets are now available for the evening’s concert featuring Blue Water Highway Band, starting at 9:00 PM.

Come celebrate five decades of The Center with an unforgettable night of live music from some of our hometown favorites. This one-set concert will take place at the end of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, giving you a chance to be part of this milestone event even if you missed out on dinner tickets.

OUR LAST LAST WEDNESDAY WITH MELINA: For as many years as we can remember, our friend and co-worker Melina has been cooking breakfast (or supplying it) for the staff on the last Wednesday of each month. We always knew it was going to be a good day when we walked into the building and could hear and smell the onions, peppers and sausage sizzling in the Green Room kitchen.

As she prepares to retire this week after 18 years at The Center, we decided to hold a LAST Last Wednesday this morning. In true Melina fashion, she insisted on cooking for us, one last time.

Her final day on staff will be Friday...the day we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Melina has worked here for more than a third of the time The Center has been in existence, and was a volunteer even before that. We're so grateful to her for so many years of service and dedication!

Los Vivos y Los Mu***os is an exhibition featuring art that explores and honors the cultures, heritage, traditions and rich history of Mexico and the southwest United States with a concentration on work inspired by Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead). Dia de los Mu***os is a vibrant, multi-day Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief, joyful reunion.

Established and emerging artists (ages 14 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration through Monday, August 31. A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each media category for an emerging artist and an established artist.

The art exhibition will be held at The Center for the Arts & Sciences, hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council, from Tuesday, October 6 through Monday, November 2!
