On Friday, July 24, the Huntington Beach Art Center celebrated its exhibition Observations: Photography by Veterans and the winners of the USA's 250th Outdoor Banner Competition. The event was scheduled to coincide with the International Surf Museum's grand opening just across the street, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy both celebrations. The reception featured a panel discussion with the exhibiting veteran photographers and banner artists, offering guests a chance to hear directly from the artists about their work and their unique interpretations of America's 250th in Huntington Beach. A special thanks to the City of Huntington Beach Community and Library Services Commission for their participation.
This exhibition and program were presented with support from the HBAC Foundation, the Department of Veterans Affairs National Veterans Creative Arts Festival, the Huntington Beach Public Library Veterans Resource Center, American Legion Post 133, the Women Veterans Photography Club, and U.S. veteran members of the Huntington Beach Art Center's Artist Council.
Observations continues at the Art Center through August 22, 2026. The winning banner designs by Ami Racin, Josh Sumner, Virginia Billes, Toni Haas, Shoreline Chalk Co., and Melissa Murals are on display on the exterior of the Art Center through September 11, 2026.
