In 1952, Cy Twombly traveled to Europe and North Africa for the first time. Accompanied by Robert Rauschenberg, Twombly journeyed to Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, and Tangier, later drawing on his sketches to produce his "North African Sketchbooks," 1953.

The exhibition catalogue "Cy Twombly: Marocco 1952/1953" contains photographs Twombly and Rauschenberg took during their travels, alongside text and reproductions of works included in the show at Musée Yves Saint Laurent, Marrakech.
