Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. The Houston Fire Museum is teaming up with NFPA to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week, Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower, which focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Event runs from 9:30 am to 1:30 PM

Activities Include:

Handouts on the safe handling of Lithium-Ion batteries

Take a ride on our 1937 Chevy fire truck, weather permitting; donations appreciated

Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat.
