Last weekend, we celebrated the opening of our latest exhibit, One's Spirit Beyond the Portal, with artist Motoko Yasue!

Combining oil painting, watercolor, and glass sculpture, this exhibition explores the connection between human life, emotion, and nature. The collection depicts imaginary worlds in abstract landscapes, inviting the viewer to enter an inner realm of the mind.

Find solace and strength on life's uncertain path and recall forgotten memories, and stir your spirit beyond the portal.

On display at The Jung Center gallery until November 13th. There will be a FREE talk with the artist on October 31st at 2pm.

¿Por qué algunos países permanecen "anclados" en el subdesarrollo, a pesar de sus recursos y de su gente?

Hace más de dos décadas, la periodista y escritora venezolana Carolina Jaimes Branger se hizo esa pregunta en su primer libro, El anclaje del subdesarrollo. En él identifica diecinueve actitudes y patrones de conducta que atan a Venezuela, y a muchos otros países, a los mismos ciclos. Tras más de 20 ediciones en Venezuela y en Florida, el libro llega ahora a la comunidad de Houston.

En esta conversación íntima, Carolina nos invita a mirar de frente los mitos sociales, las creencias limitantes y hasta los refranes populares que repetimos casi sin pensar. Muchas veces los usamos para justificar actitudes que nos mantienen en la oscuridad. ¿Qué pasaría si los hiciéramos conscientes? Como proponía Jung, iluminar lo que permanece en la sombra es el primer paso para transformarlo.

Veinte años después, las preguntas del libro siguen vigentes, y quizás son más urgentes que nunca.
