Growing up in Minnesota I went to the woods to experience wildlife and to learn and explore. That was the beginning of my journey to understand and experience nature. About 30 years ago I discovered photography and over time realized through photography I could share my love of wildlife and the natural world with others. Today over nearly half a century later, with half my life lived in Alaska, I am still on that mission quest. As a photographer in Haines, in South East Alaska, my goal is to visually capture the spirit of an animal, bird or the natural scene and communicate my vision providing images that create a sense of wonder, awe and understanding, and sometimes the comedy of the natural world. I try to place the viewer in the environment or the moment. I am truly passionate about communicating the beauty of wildlife in its native environment. Too often many people only have visions of animals in zoos. My hope is that people will come to appreciate the wonderful beauty and complexities of nature and help preserve it.
