Ooookaay!
Boarding today in Skagway for a 3 day run into Glacier Bay and off loading in Whittier. Doing 1 presentation,"Denali the Meat Grinder", a guides perspective.
Never been on a Princess. This will be a good warm up for my brother David & I boarding in Seattle a week later on Royal Caribbean, Round trip.
Never thought me, an artist & dirt bag climber would be on stage on one of these ships. My venue, I;m glad I don't have stage fright!

Come on out! Our opening is starts at 1 not as the paper add says at 6. "We have a failure to communicate". Who said that line in what movie? Free zipper pull for the winner!

It's been awhile! So much time prepping for winter & right now it could snow any day. The annual road trip up through the Yukon to Cosco in Fairbanks was stellar as usual. Another 6 chords of next years logs were delivered and will sit covered until spring. A serious local bear problem wreaking havoc across the street has us peeing around the house corners,( A myth but it seems to work!).
The studio's are in full swing with Sharon's mosaic classes and me between melting glass and getting the brushes wet. So nothing earth shattering but normal seasonal processes. More to post sooner now that we're settling in!

One of the reasons we live in Haines is that we are 42 miles from the Canadian border. We love driving into the Yukon, loading up in Whitehorse and taking off to do loops, Dawson over to "Chicken" into Tok. We love our Canadian neighbors, sharing our coastal resources as they share their legendary expanses with us. Entering the Yukon, is a breath of fresh interior air. The vastness and the hardy Canadians who live surrounded by it are some of our best friends.
That being said, there is absolutely no way Canadians would be bullied into becoming a member of the Divided States of America. They see the chaos below, which in turn has bonded Canadians as never before. Help protect Greenland from us!
So yea Canada, all of us up here are 'honored" to be your neighbors!

I've been in the studio back at the easel working on "Soft Art" with paint brushes. It's a relief after so much glass cutting, grinding & melting. Putting together a coherent selection for an upcoming showing at the annual opening of our esteemed Port Chilkoot distillery in April. I tend to display my more radical work for the single malt crowd!

Mid winter is time to melt glass. Nothing feels as good as radiating kiln heat, other than the wood stove of course. I've been working with multiple layers utilizing really cool "streaky" Bullseye glass. These are wall hung rather than platters. Being a painter I've been exploring the use of powdered glass to get a watercolor effect. It's nothing new in the glass world but opening my eyes to the possibilities!

Most of us in Haines were getting our systems ready for winter. Waking up to this 48 hours later was a shock for everyone! Wet and heavy. Going to swap out to studs when I can move the car!
