Haines Sheldon Museum Our staff and volunteers, many long-time residents, warmly greet and guide all visitors.

Our Mission: The Haines Sheldon Museum is committed to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history, art, and unique blending of diverse cultures within the Chilkat Valley region. Centrally located downtown, on the original Haines Mission grounds, the Sheldon Museum & Cultural Center has a picture-perfect setting overlooking Lynn Canal, a magnificent fjord. They can share stories about life in the Chilkat Valley in and around Haines, Alaska.

Tomorrow night, Saturday 6-9pm at the Senior Center, it's time to PAINT & SIP! Our instructor is Kelleen Adams, and all materials are provided, including your own buoy to turn into lawn & garden art, an address marker, conversation starter, or... Wine and a fine spread of food will give you the fuel for your artistic fire! $90 accepted at the museum ahead of time, or just walk-in tomorrow to join in. All proceeds to benefit the Sheldon. Everyone is cordially invited to attend our opening reception a week from today on Friday May 1st from 5-7pm. Check out our new main gallery exhibit "The Shape of Passage: Lifeways Between Land & Sea" curated by Andrea Nelson, and in the Hakkinen gallery our new exhibit "Carol Clifton: A Life's Work" curated by Donna Catotti. We are also welcoming the Eldred Rock Lighthouse Preservation Association to celebrate the Grand Opening of the lighthouse, and are having a Tool Drive to help their ongoing mission, so please bring any spare items you'd like to donate. We'll have food, drinks and live music from OLD HART. Hope to see you there!
