The 2nd part of the video taken November 29, 2019. A look into the hangar and the museum at that time. Again thank you Dan Foss of DJamesFoss Media.

This video was taken on November 29, 2019, it was a bitterly cold day. We had planned to use it and the 2nd part for museum promotion, then Covid19 changed our world. The 1st part is Saigon Lady before all the work was done. Thanks to Dan Foss, DJamesFoss Media.

Here is a side video of the propeller on W7's number 1 engine during the propeller governor test. If you watch close you can see the width of the blade change when the propeller control is moved. When it looks wide it is at the 'Low' RPM position (taking a bigger bite of air so more load slows the engine) and when it looks thin it is in the 'High' RPM position (smaller bite is a lower load and the engine turns faster). Can you hear and see the change?

We haven't forgotten Saigon Lady, we have however reached a point where it's a grind. Whether it's pulling rivets as Jay is doing on top of our C-130A or it's in the office to secure donations, we are working diligently to bring more success to her story.

Dr1 first engine run at Geneseo

Last Saturday the Fokker Dr1 replica owned by our friend JB Allred had its first engine run at Geneseo. It has been a long road for JB and we are all looking forward to the first flight. Congrats JB!

Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar
The Museum's C-119 came off of the production line in 1952 as an F model. It then went to the Royal Canadian Air Force where it was based out of Edmonton and Toronto. During its service the airplane flew throughout Canada, the Arctic, and supported UN efforts in the Mideast. It was converted to a G model in 1957 with the addition of new props.
Struck off strength in 1967 it the went to Hawkins and Powers aerial fire fighting company in WY. It was never converted to a fire bomber, however. In the early 1990s the aircraft was donated to the Museum. Upon its delivery it was stripped of all useful and airworthy equipment, including the engines and cockpit instruments. For years it has sat outside and deteriorated. A crew calling itself the Boxcar Boys has been working to make the Boxcar presentable and return it to some semblance of its former self. New fabric has been applied to the control surfaces, much of the exterior has been painted in RCAF colors, and a multitude of other tasks have been completed. It looks, however, like the work will continue long after the Boxcar Boys have gone west.

Bombs & Blooms (excerpts from the historical musical drama)

Our friend and fellow volunteer Ruth Henry is the writer, producer, and director of "Bombs and Blooms" a story set during WW2: "Bombs & Blooms is a historical musical set in the 1940s during WWII. The plot revolves around a WWII pilot and his wife and the different life experiences they encounter throughout the war." Since the events of this year prevented their full production they produced this video using W7 as the backdrop. They hope to do a full theatrical production during 2021. Keep watching here and on their page for more information. It is something you should plan to attend in person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exia9DxjMdA&feature=youtu.be

Grumman F4F Wildcat: U.S. Navy Fighter in World War II

As tomorrow is the flight over the USS Missouri to commemorate the end of WW2 in 1945, it is important to remember that the F4F took its first flight 8 years earlier in 1937. So often passed over in favor of the F4U Corsair and F6F Hellcat, the F4F Wildcat was able to keep the Allies from losing the early war and stayed on as an Escort carrier fighter until September 2, 1945.

An obscure U.S. Navy fighter did yeoman duty when times were toughest early in World War II.

Warplane Museum shoot---behind the scenes We had a great time taking photos at the Geneseo National Warplane Museum, but there was a lot of behind-the-scenes activity that made the shoots successful. Our greatest challenge involved lighting--assuring that there was enough light to properly illuminate the subjects without over blowing the light. The type of light, equipment, distance from subject, color etc, all went into the decisions made as we worked on each shoot. Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos that I hope folks may enjoy.
I belong to a photography group that was given permission to visit the museum to practice various photographic techniques. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the past 6 weeks or so. Thank you!
Thank you for the invitation.
Lots of great memories there! Worked for Calspan in Buffalo for 17 years.
