Quick reminder for this weekend!

There will be no official Mustang Field Flying Day tomorrow due to the heat, but the museum is still OPEN from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come escape the heat inside the library, walk through the collection, and spend your Saturday surrounded by some pretty incredible airplanes. And keep your eyes on the sky. While we won’t be flying as a group, you never know what you might see around Mustang Field.

There was a time when airplanes were designed with slide rules, shaped by hand and built by craftsmen whose work could be seen in every curve and seam.

The technology has changed, but the ingenuity still deserves our attention.

A Mustang Field Flying Day update: We hate to do it, but with the heat expected this Saturday, we’re cancelling the official flying portion of Mustang Field Flying Day. These airplanes are meant to fly, but we’re not going to push our volunteer pilots in unsafe temperatures just to keep the schedule.

The museum WILL still be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and we’d love to have you come out and spend some time in the hangar.

And just because there isn’t an official Flying Day doesn’t necessarily mean the skies over Mustang Field will be quiet. You may still catch an airplane or two in the air throughout the morning. Come see us Saturday and enjoy the collection up close.

→ A Ryan SCW-145 making its return to Oklahoma 88 years after it first arrived
→ A Culver Cadet LCA signed off by Al Mooney himself in 1940

This isn't a collection of common aircraft. These are survivors, aircraft that made it through wars, crashes, dormancy, and decades of neglect to end up in a WWII-era hangar in El Reno, Oklahoma, where we are keeping them alive.

These airplanes connect to art, engineering, military history, American industry and the stories of the people who helped shape aviation.

There is something here for anyone who enjoys seeing craftsmanship and history come together.

They also require volunteers who welcome visitors, answer questions, organize events, polish aircraft and help keep the museum running.
We are fortunate to have people who give their time because they believe these stories are worth preserving.
