Join us on October 17th for an afternoon of student art, music, stories, interactive activities, and cultural experiences highlighting Hispanic and Latino traditions, creativity, and contributions.

Governor Christine Todd Whitman made history as New Jersey’s first woman governor, while leaving a lasting impact on the state’s environment. From preserving New Jersey’s open spaces to protecting its beaches, her leadership helped shape the state for generations to come.

This International Day of the Girl, we recognize Governor Whitman and the women whose contributions continue to inspire the next generation to lead, serve, and make a difference in their communities.

Few individuals in the 19th century did as much to improve the care of those experiencing mental health challenges and other underserved populations as Dorothea Dix.

"She championed causes for both the mentally ill and indigenous populations. By doing this work, she openly challenged 19th-century notions of reform and illness. Additionally, Dix helped recruit nurses for the Union army during the Civil War. As a result, she transformed the field of nursing." - WomensHistory.org

In 1936, Prudencio and Carolina Unanue founded a small storefront that would eventually become Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S. Today, Goya offers over 2,500 products, employs more than 4,000 people worldwide, and supports hundreds of charitable initiatives through Goya Gives.

A coach's words can push us to work harder, achieve more, and overcome the obstacles that we face along the path to greatness. On National Coaches Day, we're celebrating four New Jersey Hall of Famers who have changed the game:

Anne Donovan (2018) - The only person to have played for a women’s college championship team and coached a team to a professional title, Donovan earned the respect of her fellow players and those she coached at all levels.

Bob Hurley (2012) - In 39 years as a coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, Hurley amassed 26 state championships. His teams won more than 1,000 games. More than 150 of his players earned full scholarships to Division I basketball programs.

Patrick Ewing (2014) - After 17 seasons in the NBA, Ewing dedicated his talents to coaching the next generation. From 2002 to 2017, he was an assistant coach for NBA teams in Washington, Houston, Orlando, and Charlotte, before returning to Georgetown as head coach from 2017 to 2023.

C. Vivian Stringer (2019) - Stringer’s overall coaching record of 1,041-421 ranks her fifth all-time among NCAA women’s basketball coaches. The first coach in college basketball history to take three different teams to the Final Four, she was named national coach of the year three times.

On World Teachers' Day, it's our honor to celebrate all the educators who make a meaningful difference in their students' lives, especially our 2026 Educator of the Year, Marbel Tamayo. Marbel took the stage at our 18th Annual Induction Ceremony to accept her award in recognition of her dedication to teaching Spanish and creating celebratory cultural experiences for students.

💃🏽 ¡Azúcar! Celebrating the unforgettable Celia Cruz! 💃🏽

A New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2013 inductee, Celia Cruz turned her powerful voice, vibrant Afro-Cuban sound, and unmistakable style into a legendary career that captivated audiences around the world. 🌎🎶

Celia began singing as a child in Cuba before studying music at Havana’s National Conservatory of Music. Her career took off in 1950 when she joined La Sonora Matancera, and the rest was history!

Over her incredible career, Cruz earned 23 gold albums, 14 Grammy nominations, two Grammy wins, four Latin Grammys, and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Her influence continues to inspire generations of musicians and fans.

And you can see a piece of that legendary style right here in New Jersey! ✨ We are honored to permanently display one of Celia Cruz’s unforgettable stage outfits at the New Jersey Hall of Fame at American Dream.
