Delaware Historical and Cultural Affairs is offering an interactive program in August that explores the history, artifacts and surviving hull section of the 18th century shipwreck HMS DeBraak. This free event will be held on August 6th from 10-11 a.m., August 8th from 2-3pm, and on August 20th from 10-11 a.m.

The Walk to DeBraak will begin at Cape Henlopen State Park, where participants will meet Zwaanendael Museum staff outside the CHSP Park Office and take a short walk (0.3 miles) to the DeBraak facility. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Space is limited to 18 participants, and comfortable footwear is required. Prior registration is strongly encouraged, and can be completed by emailing [email protected] or by calling (302) 645-1148.

Presents Archibald Crozier Award

At the June 20, 2026, annual meeting of the Archaeological Society of Delaware, Inc., Dr. LuAnn DeCunzo, professor of archaeology at the University of Delaware, received the Archibald Crozier Award.
Archibald Crozier (1878-1954), a student and collector of Indian lore, was a charter member, President, Director, and Treasurer of the Society and contributed greatly to its objectives. The Archibald Crozier Award was presented by President John Martin for distinguished achievement in, or contribution to, archaeology. Dr. DeCunzo’s achievements in archaeological research, public outreach, and teaching archaeology at the University of Delaware since 1989 epitomize the qualities that define this award.
