"Flowers Know What We Forgot" Presented by Featured Artist Miranda Kyle

Opening reception: October 9th 5-8pm!

"My process changed from graphite drawings to watercolor installations. After overworking a watercolor painting, my professor encouraged me to cut out its redeeming elements. What began as a failed painting became a new way of creating. I began ripping apart my paintings and collaging each piece together like a puzzle.

My work reflects my belief that “We are who we are, because of where we’ve been,” while drawing from childhood memories of rearranging magnets in my family’s kitchen.” -Miranda Kyle

Meet the curator of "The Intimacy of Memories" Sydney Frakes!

Sydney Frakes is a curator and the Creator and Director of Threads: The Art Exchange, a platform dedicated to artist development, creative consulting, and digital initiatives. Her curatorial approach is emotionally attuned, grounded in dialogue with artists and attentive to how a body of work unfolds over time. Through Threads, she works closely with artists to shape narrative, refine presentation, and build long-term visibility for their practice. She builds exhibitions as immersive, well-rounded environments, ones that invite viewers into active engagement rather than passive viewing, continuing to shape a curatorial practice rooted in process and connection.

On Saturday, October 10th from 1-2:3pm Join Sydney in a guided walk-through, giving each participating artist a chance to talk about their work.

"Flowers Know What We Forgot" Presented by Featured Artist Miranda Kyle

Opening reception: October 9th 5-8pm!

Miranda Kyle is a watercolor painter and muralist who often centers people of color in her work. She earned her BFA in Illustration with a minor in Art History from the College for Creative Studies in 2021 and later completed her certification in Art Education. In 2023, she received a Kresge Artist Fellowship for her contributions to the visual arts in Detroit.

Her practice explores memory, identity, and storytelling through personal experiences and those around her. Kyle sees each artwork as both an individual narrative and part of a larger, evolving story. Her paintings connect like fragments of memory or puzzle pieces, embracing layered meaning and shifting perspectives while inviting viewers to find parts of themselves within her stories.
