River Raisin National Battlefield Park is hosting a heritage festival this weekend. Head down to Monroe to learn about this War of 1812 site. We have a handful of objects excavated at the site on display in our museum but all the most interesting pieces are at the visitor’s center for you to see.

The Anthropology gallery is open tonight, Friday, from 5-8pm. The Mineral Museum is also open and the Wayne State University Planetarium has shows that start at 6pm and 7:30pm. Swing by! Or try us Saturday afternoon 12-5, when the Elaine L. Jacob Gallery Wayne State University is also open.

Have you visited Fort Wilkins in the Keweenaw? It was built early in the copper rush when the government worried about conflict. Spoiler alert: nothing happened. But it marks an interesting period in Michigan history. We have artifacts from Fort Wilkins in our current exhibit - come by the gallery to learn a little and plan your road trip to the UP!
