Looking for ways to connect to your community? Do you like showing old family items or old objects you’ve collected? Or possibly see what other people have collected and want to show? Well, look no further, on October 24th from 9am-10am at the Eisenhower Birthplace come show your old items and see what other people have to bring. Staff at the site will also bring out some artifacts for visitors to look at, as well as free coffee. So come out and participate in this monthly program!

Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy!
On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the creation of a naval force during the American Revolution. That decision marked the beginning of what would become the United States Navy.
For 251 years, American Sailors have served around the world, in times of war and peace, to protect our nation, defend our freedom, and carry out the mission at sea.

Mr. Sam’s 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood has arrived for the Eisenhower Birthday Celebration. Come see it until 3pm today. The Honorable Sam Rayburn of Bonham served as U.S. Speaker of the House longer than anyone.

Happy National Hero Day!
Today we honor the heroes who have answered the call to serve and defend our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication have helped shape the history of our country.
Among those remembered is General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who led Allied forces in Europe during WWII. As Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force , Eisenhower carried the enormous responsibility of coordinating Allied forces and directing the campaign that ultimately helped bring victory in Europe.
But Eisenhower often emphasized that victory was never the achievement of one person. It belonged to the millions of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and civilians who served and sacrificed.
Today we remember them all with gratitude and respect.
