Join us at Dana L. Wiley Gallery for the opening reception of Elizabeth Mead’s new exhibition, Of and Between Objects and Things.

Through the lens of photographer and sculptor Elizabeth Mead, two celebrated masterpieces of nineteenth-century sculpture—Hiram Powers’ The Greek Slave and Richard James Wyatt’s Nymph Entering the Bath—are reimagined for a contemporary audience.

Mead’s photographs and sculptures explore the spaces between object and image, seeing and knowing, whole and fragment. In her Clouds Horizon James River, Williamsburg series, porcelain becomes a language of light, space, and perception—delicate forms appearing as quiet architectural fragments against distant horizons.

Recognizable yet elusive, Mead’s images invite us to slow down, look closely, and reconsider what we think we see. Her work reminds us that perception is never fixed; it is an act of creation.
