What we show at Gum Contemporary and what we do not show.
Gum Contemporary is a small art gallery that show cases rare and obscure forms of abstraction. These types of works are complex in both though and form. They are very advanced forms of abstraction created with pure intention and not just paint thrown at a canvas or put in a cup and turned upside-down upon a canvas. In these works everything seen is excataly what the artist intended to be seen.
The materials that these works are made from can be various yet there's a quality of these types of works that is seldom seen. It is this quality which we are interested in showing.
Since the gallery space is located on about 2 wall of the Visionary Folk Art gallery back room studio and storage area in any given show there may only be a few works on view.
The art and artist we are showing have established themselves in the art world and have outstanding CV that said they may also be a bit underrepresented. This does not mean the works are cheap or of low quality. Many of these artist are on the rise and there prices are based on previous sales and not just some imagery number pulled out of thier ass. Yes many of these works will be higher in price than one would think.
