🎨✨ Calling all artists, makers, musicians, bakers, sculptors, and creative minds! The 2026 Beyond Vision Art Show is now accepting submissions!

From April 1 through May 31, 2026, we are looking for artwork that can be experienced beyond sight. If your art can be touched, smelled, tasted, or heard, we want to see — and experience — it!

Think outside the frame:
👂 Sound art or music
🖐️ Tactile sculpture or texture-based pieces
👃 Scent-based creations
👅 Edible art or tasty creations
🎭 Anything interactive and accessible that goes beyond just looking at it

The 2026 Beyond Vision Art Show will be on display during the month of September at the Dayton Metro Library Main Branch.

📅 Submission period: April 1–May 31, 2026

When you submit, please include:
• Your name
• Your email address
• A brief description of what you plan to create
• Any photos of sensory art you have created in the past

Today we recognize World Braille Day and celebrate the powerful impact of braille in the lives of people who are blind and low vision.

Braille is not just a system of raised dots. It represents literacy, independence, and access to the world. Through braille, people can read books, take notes in school, label medications and household items, learn math and music, and develop skills that lead to meaningful careers. Braille allows people to learn at their own pace and access information privately and confidently.

Even in a digital world, braille remains essential. Refreshable braille displays, braille signage, and tactile labels continue to play a critical role in education, employment, and everyday life. Access to braille helps ensure that blind individuals are not left behind and can fully participate in their communities.

On World Braille Day, we honor the importance of braille and advocate for equal access to information in all formats. When accessibility is prioritized, everyone benefits.

Braille matters. Literacy matters. Inclusion matters. 💙📚

Beyond Vision Art
New Year Reflection and Looking Ahead

As we ring in the New Year, we’re taking a moment to look back with full hearts and deep gratitude. 2025 was an incredible year for Beyond Vision Art, and none of it would have been possible without the amazing community that surrounds us.

This year, we created spaces where art could be touched, heard, tasted, and truly experienced. We gathered around tables for Dining in the Dark, celebrated White Cane Awareness, hosted inclusive exhibitions, partnered with local artists and organizations, and welcomed so many people who showed up with curiosity, openness, and support. We shared stories, laughter, learning moments, and powerful conversations about accessibility and inclusion.

To every artist, volunteer, sponsor, venue, partner, donor, attendee, and supporter behind the scenes thank you. Your time, energy, creativity, and belief in our mission helped make 2025 not just successful, but meaningful. You showed up in big ways and small ones, and we see you.

As we move forward into 2026, we are filled with excitement and hope. The future is bright, bold, and full of possibility. We’re stepping into the new year with fresh ideas, deeper connections, and an even stronger commitment to creating inclusive, multisensory experiences that center blind and low vision voices.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to growth, creativity, community, and everything we’ll build together in 2026.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today we join the world in celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a meaningful reminder that disability is not inability.

At Beyond Vision Art, we believe art is for everybody and every body. Through touch, sound, movement, and imagination, creativity has no limits. Today and every day, we lift up voices from the blind and visually impaired community and celebrate accessibility, inclusion, and the beauty of difference.
