Towering 54-feet high, this glass-enclosed escalator takes you up to see Stan — a life-sized cast of one of the most complete t. rex skeletons known — just before heading into the T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall to explore more dinosaurs.

Tonight's forecast? Shooting stars. 💫

The Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight, meaning you could see up to 100 meteors per hour under dark skies.

This annual meteor shower happens as Earth passes through debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. While the comet won't return until 2125, its trail crosses Earth's orbit every year, giving us this spectacular show.

For the best view, head somewhere away from city lights and look up from 2-6 am.

Curious what our paleontologists and preparators have been working on lately? 💭

These are a Columbian mammoth's atlas and axis — the first two bones in its neck. Collected in the 1980s, these bones are much wider, thicker, and robust than those of modern elephants.

Columbian mammoths had much larger heads and enormous twisting tusks that could reach up to 16 feet long, so they needed an incredibly strong neck to support all that weight.
