Penfield Homestead Museum is located in historic Ironville in the Town of Crown Point, NY. Penfield Museum is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving the history of the Ironworking Industry in the North Country during the 19th century. This hamlet is listed as the "Birthplace of the Electric Age", being the site of the first industrial application of electricity in the United

States. Iron ore was mined just up the road in the hamlet of Hammondville, separated in Ironville, and then shipped by railroad to Lake Champlain where it was used in many applications including the Civil War Ironclad Monitor.

*We also hold a venue for weddings, class reunions, ect. Located on our property is a beautiful church and a pavilion to host your wedding reception.

Penfield Homestead Museum will be closed this Saturday, July 4th. Happy 250th Independence Day and please celebrate in one of our neighboring communities, Ticonderoga or Schroon Lake. We will reopen on Tuesday July 7th at 11am.
