Our BBQ Fundraiser at the KofC, originally scheduled for April 15th, has been rescheduled to May 13th due to a shortage of grillers. This very important fundraiser (replaces the Taste of Ti this year) will be May 13th at 5pm. Dine in or takeout. Please mark your calendars. We appreciate all of the community's support in keeping the industrial heritage of Ticonderoga alive through our work at the Heritage Museum! More details will be forthcoming as we approach the May date! PLEASE SHARE

Exciting News! We are tweaking our schedule a bit this year to provide more opportunities to our friends, guests, and visitors.

First, beginning June 26 (the first day of our daily schedule) and extending thru September 6, we will extend our hours by one hour, opening at 10 am and closing at 5 pm. This provides an extra hour each day during this period for visitors to experience Ticonderoga's industrial history.

Second, we will extend our 2021 season a bit this year to accommodate leap peepers and other visitors. Columbus Day is normally the last day of our season. However, this year we will also be open on October 14-17 from 11 am to 4 pm. If this proves favorable, we may consider continuing this approach or even extending the time period in future seasons.

We are....YOUR MUSEUM.

The industrial history of Ticonderoga cannot be told without describing paper mills, graphite mining, and pencils. The Heritage Museum preserves and interprets that history. Housed in the "1888 building," the museum is the last remaining structure of the Ticonderoga Pulp and Paper Company that once....

Heritage Museum Christmas ornaments are BACK! We have initiated a new series of Christmas ornaments. Every year we will release a new ornament that features an iconic Ticonderoga structure. This inaugural year of 2020 features the Ticonderoga railroad depot which opened in 1914. This was intended for release this year along with the opening of our new railroad exhibit and the publishing of our 2021 calendar "Ticonderoga Tracks" which highlights Ticonderoga's railroads. The ornament includes an ornamental hanger and retails for $20 + tax.

The next Ticonderoga Heritage Museum Industry Walking Tour along lower La Chute River will be held on Sunday, October 11 at 2 pm. Space is limited so call Laura Wright (240-353-2961) to make a reservation. Tour is weather dependent so we will take your contact information and call you to inform you if the tour is postponed for any reason.

The tour guide will provide additional information at each location of interest and answer questions. Examples are included in the attached photos.

Update: ONLY 12 SPOTS LEFT The next Ticonderoga Heritage Museum Industry Walking Tour along upper La Chute River will be held on Sunday, October 4 at 2 pm. Space is limited so call Laura Wright (240-353-2961) to make a reservation. Tour is weather dependent so we will take your contact information and call you to inform you if the tour is postponed for any reason.

TOUR DETAILS. This is a guided tour with tour participant guides which show you the locations along the walk (photos, maps, and related interest material). The tour guide will provide additional information at each location of interest and answer questions. Examples are included in the attached photos.

Unlike the lower La Chute Industry Walking Tour, this part of the walking trail is not connected so we will have to connect from a point on Lake George Avenue through Stanton Street to reacquire the trail. No worries as we will discuss some other points of interest along the way while we make the connection.

WHERE TO MEET: The tour is designed to walk downhill from the meeting place at the lawn on the corner of Alexandria Avenue and Lord Howe. It will end on Montcalm Street at the corner of Montcalm and Lake George Ave.

NOTICE: The tour ends on Montcalm Street so you will need to be dropped off at the start location or have someone give you a ride back to the start location if you park your vehicle there. You can walk back, but it is uphill.

Good walking shoes and water are recommended. The tour will require approximately 90 minutes depending on questions. We will comply with COVID precautions so masks are required, and we will practice social distancing. Come with us and join the fun as we share information on the many industries and businesses which once operated on and around Upper La Chute River.

My dad, now 87, was a steward on the MV Ticonderoga on Lake George for two summers in the midFifties. Even though his memory is fading a bit, he loves to tell us stories about his time on "the boat". With Christmas coming up, I was wondering if there were any good "picture" books of the MV Ticonderoga and the old hotels that used to be around the lake in the 50s. He's not so much into reading anymore, but he loves picture books and magazines with large pictures. Also, another shot in the dark question - I know the boat was ripped up for scrap sometime in the 90s - I was wondering, did anybody think of keeping some bits and pieces for memorabilia? Even just a little piece of metal or something? I would love to be able to give him a little bit of his boat for Christmas. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
