The Robbins House may be small, but we are part of a much larger community dedicated to preserving and sharing Black history.

This summer, Executive Director Jen Turner and Board Co-President Nikki Turpin once again joined museum professionals from across the country at the Association of African American Museums conference in Philadelphia. They returned with new connections, fresh ideas, and renewed inspiration for our work here in Concord.

As part of the Concord Festival of Authors, The Robbins House is proud to present Willie Mae Brown, author of My Selma. We were honored to receive $20,000 in state funding for The Robbins House at our 2nd Annual Stakeholder Breakfast last Friday.

The funding will support updates to our educational exhibits and technology and help expand educational programming as we continue to share Concord’s important African American and antislavery history.

We are deeply grateful to Rep. Simon Cataldo, who secured the funding, with support from Senator Mike Barrett and Rep. Carmine Lillino Gentile.

Rep. Simon Cataldo joined us at The Robbins House for the presentation, along with , Chair of the The Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus, Robbins House Executive Director Jen Turner , and Board Co-Chairs Nikki Turpin and Joe Palumbo.

Thank you for this important investment in The Robbins House and our work.

Come celebrate Concord’s Black history with us!

Join us on Thursday, October 22 at noon for a special community celebration of Concord’s Black Heritage Trail, featuring 10 new markers that bring greater visibility to the people, places, and stories that are part of Concord’s Black history.

The celebration at Monument Square will include remarks and song and introduce a new walking tour and map.

The Black Heritage Trail is a Town of Concord project, developed in collaboration with The Robbins House and other community partners and made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (Visit Massachusetts).

📚 “Read, my child, read. Read everything.”

Andrew Aydin, who worked alongside Congressman John Lewis and co-authored the bestselling “March” trilogy and “Run” with him, reflects on why these stories continue to matter.

We’re proud to include “March” and “Run” in Red, White & True, our summer reading list created for America’s 250th anniversary. We hope Andrew’s recommendation inspires you to discover these remarkable books—and many more.
