The farm museum represents “a history of the house and a history of the early days of Bedford.

"The Job Lane House is a historic house at 295 North Road in Bedford, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story saltbox wood-frame structure, with a side-gable roof, clapboard siding, and a stone foundation. The house was built c. 1713 by Deacon Job Lane, one of Bedford's earliest settlers, on land acquired by his grandfather (also Job Lane) in 1664 from Governor John Winthrop. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is owned by the Town of Bedford and operated as an 18th-century historic house museum."

At our Booth on Bedford Day, Saturday, September 19, at the Town Hall on Mudge Way, Bedford, we will look to interest new members to join us. We will also talk about our old house, which is so beautiful inside. We invite you to come visit our barn as well, a newly constructed timber - frame building as Job Lane would have built when he built the house in 1713. We are open the 2nd and 4th Sunday, 2-4 pm, May-October.

Please stop by our booth on Bedford Day this Saturday and introduce yourself.

Open House, Sunday, August 23, from 2 - 4 pm.
We are located at 295 North Road, Bedford, MA, 1 mile outside of the Center.

Our museum is of great interest to the Lanes that are descendants. They find us and we become friends. We want to extend an invite to all of you that may be related to the Lanes, as well as the Duttons. The Duttons were the last family to live at this house. We have the beautiful raised herb beds of the herbs that Lillian Dutton grew. They are colonial in nature, and came to this area mostly beginning with the pilgrims. Some herbs came later.
The Rufus Porter murals in the Parlor are interesting to see and study.

Yes, we are open on Sunday, August 9, from 2 to 4. Come visit and have a tour of the house and the barn. Learn about Job Lane, we know as Deacon Job who built the house in 1713, when he married Martha Ruggles and the story continues.

The Parlor has all 4 walls of murals, that we believe were done by Rufus Porter.

The new barn is timber frame raised in 1993 funded by the Friends of the Job Lane House, given permission to build on Town land. We wrote a deed, signed it with the Select Board, and gave it to the Town of Bedford.

Next Open House August 23.

We have a nice display in the Great Hall chamber of a quilt made by a Lane descendant and a doily, in the Parlor also by a Lane descendant.
We are open from 2 to 4. the Gift Shop; is in the Barn where you check in.

The Job Lane House and Barn are open on Sunday, July 12, and on the 2nd and 4th Sunday, from May through October, from 2 to 4 pm. and are located at 295 North Road in Bedford, MA.
Job Lane the grandson of the first Lane built the house in 1713 when he married Martha Ruggles. He became a church Deacon and was one of the founding fathers of the Town of Bedford.
The house is nicely furnished, and we tell the stories from the time of Job and Martha through the last inhabitants, the Duttons.

Our gardens are beautiful, and there is much to see.
Come and spend an hour with us.
