House tours talk about the family that built the house and lived in it for 75 years and the changes to the West End during that time. We host exhibits related to architecture, historic preservation, building trades, construction technologies, and building materials.

Wednesday morning,a wonderful reception was held for Toledo sculptor Austen Brantley, the very talented artist who will create the Women Veterans Memorial to be installed at Eden Park. Hosted by Starr & Tarry Shebesta at their art gallery Artclectic, guests included members of Vietnam Veterans of America Post 10, Hamilton County prosecutor & Air Force veteran Connie Pillich, Tana Weingarten from WVXU, Liz Miller & Sydney Fine of 1001 Colors (formerly ArtsWave) and journalist Anthony Palmer from Clermont Connect. Kathryn Dierkes who is leading this project and a member of National Society of Colonial Dames in Ohio spoke about the events that led up to this effort. @

A very busy day at the August Open House! 23 visitors including a couple from Asheville, NC in town for the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament. Everyone took a Passport to History booklet that showcases 15 historic sites in greater Cincinnati. All in all, a fun afternoon!

The 3rd annual Hamilton County Veterans Appreciation Day at TQL Stadium Saturday. NSCDA-Ohio volunteers spreading the word about the Women Veterans Memorial project spearheaded by the Ohio Colonial Dames. So many visitors were surprised to learn that the Dames placed this memorial in 1985. It sits near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Eden Park. It is the first memorial dedicated to women veterans in America, 10 years before the monument in Washington DC. Now the plan is to create a larger memorial that honors the service and sacrifice of all women veterans during our country’s 250th birthday.
Thanks to Hamilton County commissioners for organizing this event for veterans!
