COVID Data Tracker

Effective as of July 29, the City of Chula Vista is recommending that all visitors to City facilities, such as library branches, wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Per information provided by the City, the rate of COVID-19 cases in San Diego County is currently rated “high” by the CDC (CDC COVID Data Tracker) and new research reveals the Delta variant is much more transmissible and expected to lead to a growing number of cases in the region.

Thank you for your efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

July 4th Fireworks on San Diego Bay Big Bay Boom

The City of Chula Vista will not be holding a fireworks display this year. With the uncertainty of reopening plans for the State and City, there was not enough time to adequately plan for the event, per the City. In addition, the Chula Vista Firefighter’s Association will not be holding their annual pancake breakfast.

The Port of San Diego will host the Big Bay Boom fireworks show at 9 p.m. on July 4. The event will be shown live on Fox 5 San Diego and a musical simulcast will be broadcast live on KGB 101.5 FM radio.

City of Chula Vista to launch RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE APPLICATION soon

Per the City of Chula Vista's website, Chula Vista will soon be accepting applications to distribute $16.8 million in state and federal funds to help qualifying residents who are renters to pay past-due and upcoming rent, water, sewer, gas and electric bills. These payments will be made to those affected financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. The City is required to distribute the funds quickly, so residents must watch for deadlines and be ready to apply for the assistance. The online application for the Chula Vista Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) will be available by March 15. Eligible residents also will be able to call representatives for assistance in completing the application.
Residents can receive information about the application process for this new program by signing up here.

Signing up to receive information is not an application for the program and does not determine eligibility. You must be a renter in the City of Chula Vista and meet income and other eligibility requirements.
