The Stein Family Farm

The Stein Family Farm We are a Living History Farm Museum in National City, CA with a Victorian farmhouse, 100+ year-old barn, and fun animals!
(33)

The Stein Family Farm was the home of Charles Stein, his wife Bertha Pallas Stein and their five children. Charles and Bertha were born in Germany and their families immigrated to California during the 1880's. They met in National City and married in 1891.Three acres of their original ten remain along with their home, barn and lots of farm implements and vehicles. Their orchard has been recreated from a 1920's aerial photo and farm animals are plenty. The farm is a historic treasure captured in time for everyone to enjoy.

Mission: Educating the public on the rural past of National City and the Stein Family's life during the 1880's to 1950's.

Chocolate "Chip" and Oreo update. While I was away in Baja, our wonderful SUHI volunteer Nick and his mom took care of and worked with "the boyz." Happy to report great progress was made. They know their names, love treats, and are working on walking in leashes!

Dear Stein Farm Family-

As you all know, we place the safety of our guests, volunteers and animals as our greatest priority.

Since our City, County and now Country have declared a Public Health Emergency, we have decided to close the farm and cancel all field trips, programs and special events through March 31st.

We will continue to access the situation and provide updates.

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]

Please continue your due diligence to help curb any potential outbreaks in our community by following safe sanitary practices such as washing your hands (and produce) and use social distancing (6 feet from others).

Thank you so much for your understanding.

Lori Anne Peoples Board President and your Stein Family Farm Board of Directors

National School District Board Member Brian Clapper, also known to many as "The Bird Man of National City" for his many years of experience in raising, showing & judging numerous feathered breeds at the San Diego County Fair (which was started by the Kimballs in National City), just delivered a gorgeous female Slate and a beautiful female Rio Grande turkey to us. Happy New Year to our handsome Naragasset Tom "Chief"! Thanks Brian!
