Yesterday was Nehal's last internship day at the museum. We will miss seeing her and having an archeologist on site. During her internship she re-imagined the archeology pit at the museum. She also worked with curator Joe to create a resource guide for Permission to Come Aboard exhibition. Nehal is part of the Mesa College Museum Studies program led by Alessandra Moctezuma. We love being a training museum where students can learn about and explore their passion for museums.

Surfing Madonna Oceans Project- a non profit Arts Organization - is sponsoring an Art Show - “Save the Oceans”. The show will be at the Escondido Municipal Gallery on display from October 8 - November 5, 2021. Covid restrictions allowing, we will be having a reception the Second Saturday of the month, October 9. Cathy Carey (executive Director of Surfing Madonna) and Danny Salzhandler (Art Director of Surfing Madonna) will be the judges for the show. The Surfing Madonna glass mosaic displayed in Encinitas, was created by Mark Patterson with the message “Save the Ocean” as part of the artwork. In honor of Mark’s magnificent creation, we wanted to see what other artists would do with the theme of “Save the Ocean”. You do not have to include any wording. Here are links to the Surfing Madonna page describing the show and a prospectus you can print out. The page also has a link to the Artist Call site where you can enter up to 3 pieces for $30. All mediums accepted. Must be a California resident, and your original work needs to be made within the last 2 years. https://www.surfingmadonna.org/artshow Here is a direct link to the Artist Call site to enter and upload your work: https://surfingmadonna-savetheocean.artcall.org
