Want a direct connection to Barcelona without the airport traffic? We’ve had one since 1999. ✈️

“El Dominante” was cast in Barcelona, Spain, on May 20, 1769. For more than 100 years, it served the Spanish before being captured by the U.S. military during the Spanish-American War.

President William McKinley gifted “El Dominante” to the City of Charlotte in 1900. In the century since, it’s stood at the former Charlotte Post Office (401 West Trade), on the campus of the Daniel Harvey Hill School (South Blvd. and Morehead), and in Uptown.

Moved for the final time in 1999, you can visit “El Dominante” today at the Charlotte Museum of History! 👋
